The Art of Healing

Medicine Festival Mandala / Altar by the Creative Arts team

I've always tried to look after my health after years of seeing loved ones destroy their own health through addiction. It’s been painful to be around this suffering and of course has a knock on effect to those who are close. I have spent many years focusing on what brings me healing and over time the realisation that I cannot change anyone. I can only change myself. It can be painful to watch loved ones hurt themselves and not care for themselves or others. I have always been a seeker exploring different ways of healing through the arts because I didn't want to be caught up or frozen in the suffering. It has a way of creeping in when we allow ourselves to be pulled into someone else’s story or sucked into the fabricated stories of our own minds. So all these different creative arts over the years, print making, drawing and painting, ceramics, dance, film and music have been beautiful pathways for my own self expression to move energy and keep it flowing. These healing arts continue to bring me back to the heart to help restore the balance within.

The Medicine Of Music

Music for me is a great medicine and has brought me so much comfort and solace in times of distress. Anger is residue of trauma which is part of the healing when acknowledged with love. We all have so much ancestral and childhood pain and suffering that comes through all of us at different times depending on how we deal with it at different times in our lives. Nothing is black and white. No body is the same and nobody stays the same. We are ever changing and growing and the more we can see the beauty in each other the more connected and better beings we all become. We need to let go of the old patterns and conditioning of a patriarchal system that has suppressed our beauty and constantly in blame and judgement and control. That appears to be the system we are living in but each one of us we can change this in every moment by bringing our unconditional love. Focusing on the beauty in each other allows us not get caught up in the stories that bring us into confusion and negativity. So I thank all the wonderful musicians in this world birthing so many incredible songs of love from their beautiful hearts bringing so much healing for us all.

We are The Medicine

If we focus our energy on what lifts ours spirits and what brings us joy over time this will trickle out to everyone around us. Especially when there is so much war and destruction in the world we need to be in that higher vibration and be a part of healing this world. I recently went to Medicine Festival to come together with an amazing community of people who want to spend their time sending their prayers into the world for peace and love and harmony. What a gift to be part of this. Something beautiful to be celebrated. I love this journey where I can be a small part of larger community wanting to bring healing to the world. Putting our intention and energy into universal love.

Thank you so much for the incredible music, workshops, talks and all the love that was shared so generously at Medicine Festival this year and thank you to everyone who continues to support and embrace this journey with me x o x

Angel’s Gift For Lammas

Dear friends,

I wrote this song Angel's Gift a few years ago on this day after baking some bread! I had been reading a friend’s inspiring post, celebrating abundance, gratitude and harvest to celebrate Lammas. The song features on my album Medicine Journey which is mostly instrumental after I took a break from singing. It’s quite an experimental album where I had alot of fun exploring harmonium, (Thank you Jude Edwards for the loan of this wonderful instrument) wooden flutes and occasional use of ukulele and cuatro as a drum. The singing begins to weave its way back into the album towards the end which for me was very healing and a perfect completion for this Medicine Journey.

Thank you Lilla Duignan / Seeing Things for inspiring this song with your beautiful uplifting sharings that mark the seasons, remember the human spirit, connect with nature and the divine with pure devotion and love.

Thank you to Rita Hraiz for beautiful Dharmakaya teachings which also inspired many songs over the next few months. I'm looking forward to playing some songs at Medicine Festival this year with Rita and her amazing team of musicians. She will be guiding A Transformational Shamanic Activation to Unify and Radiate The Light Of Peace.

To give thanks for this beautiful time full of abundance I will be offering a 30% discount off my album Medicine Journey for one week. Just add this discount code at checkout: medicine

Krishna’s Garden

Dear friends,

Sharing a little snippet from my time in Spain just over a week ago. I stumbled upon this Hare Krishna temple only 5 minutes from my B&B and spent the afternoon there. As I arrived at the temple, the devotees were offering Prasadam, food which they pray over while they cook and offer to Krishna and then share with everyone else at the temple. It was lovely to be in this beautiful space where community come together to share food and hearts together..

I also met a lovely Spanish poet there on my way back who recommneded praying to Krishna everyday for the world is in a desperate way with so much war. To be at the temple at this time invites a great opportunity to pray to Krishna every day. So since being home I have been inspired to put music to the Maha Mantra and Govinda Jaja Jaya mantra…and a song about the light of love from the sun. I look forward to sharing these with you soon.

This Sunday I’ll be sharing more mantras and songs at The Centre in Petersfield, Hampshire.

I’m also very excited to be going to see Jahnavi Harrison on Saturday. I only recently discovered her music and it’s sublime. Here’s one of her beautiful songs ‘Like A River’ which is touches my heart deeply and I feel is so relevent in this time.

And this Friday 19th July, also at The Centre in Petersfield, there will be a beautiful Sound Bath with Jhoana Serna who I thank deeply for introducing me to Jahnavi Harrison’s music. Click the link for more information about Jhoana’s work.

Sending you all much love x o x
